Unique Nash Implementation for a Class of Bargaining solutions
نویسنده
چکیده
The paper presents a method of supporting certain solutions of two-person bargaining games by unique Nash equilibria of associated games in strategic form. Among the supported solutions is the Kalai-Smorodinsky solution. I thank Claus Jochen Haake for helpful discussions. Pure Strategy Nash Bargaining Solutions
A broad class of 2-person threat games for which a unique pure strategy Nash bargaining solution exists is characterized in terms of three, simple, empirically meaningful restrictions on the joint objective function: compact domain, continuity, and "corner concavity." Connectedness [in particular, convexity] of the strategy and payoff sets is not required. In addition, conditions are given for ...
متن کاملOn the Relevance of Alternatives in Bargaining: Average Alternative Solutions
We compare bargaining solutions in terms of the relevance of alternatives. We show that most well-known bargaining solutions do not use all the alternatives, but there are numerous bargaining solutions that do. We introduce a new class of bargaining solutions called ``average alternative solutions'', characterize them, and show that the Nash solution and the Kalai-Smorodinsky solution are limit...
متن کاملSubgame-perfect implementation of bargaining solutions
February 1997 Final Version: October 15, 2001 This paper provides simple four-stage game forms that fully implement a large class of two-person bargaining solutions in subgame-perfect equilibrium. The solutions that can be implemented by our game forms are those that maximize a monotonic and quasi-concave function of utilities after normalizing each agent's utility function so that the maximum ...
متن کاملBridging the gap between the Nash and Kalai-Smorodinsky bargaining solutions
Bargaining solutions that satisfy weak Pareto optimality, symmetry, and independence of equivalent utility representations are called standard. The Nash (1950) solution is the unique independent standard solution and the KalaiSmorodinsky (1975) solution is the unique monotonic standard solution. Every standard solution satisfies midpoint domination on triangles, or MDT for short. I introduce a ...
متن کاملImplementation with State Dependent Feasible Sets and Preferences: A Renegotiation Approach
In this paper we present a model of implementation based on the idea that agents renegotiate unfeasible allocations. We characterize the maximal set of Social Choice Correspondences that can be implemented in Nash Equilibrium with a class of renegotiation functions that do not reward agents for unfeasibilities. This result is used to study the possibility of implementing the Walrasian Correspon...
